Jodi Stevens serves as the Executive Director at the Marion Art Center, located in Marion, MA, a post she began in September 2018. The MAC is a “small but mighty” nonprofit institution where one can attend art exhibits, theater productions, and music concerts, as well as find creative workshops, classes, and clubs for both children and adults. The MAC sponsors community events including ArtWeek SouthCoast, Art in Bloom, Reading Frederick Douglass Together, Arts in the Park, and the local Halloween parade. (www.marionartcenter.org)
Stevens has nearly fifteen years of management and administrative experience, with extensive work in the arts. She is a professional artist who has shown work in Canada and across the U.S. and served as a visiting artist in residence for various programs in Colorado and Massachusetts. Stevens has directed art workshops and participated in textile-based educational outreach programs through museum partnerships and commissions, including the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, and the Albany Institute of History and Art in Albany, N.Y.
Previous roles include: Administrative Manager for the Art Drive, an annual open studio tour; Operations Manager at the New Bedford Port Society, which maintains the historic Seamen’s Bethel and Mariner’s Home located in the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park; Adjunct Faculty for the Continuing Education Department at Rhode Island School of Design; Curator at Dedee Shattuck Gallery in Westport, MA; and Studio Manager for a local professional artist. She holds her MFA in Artisanry/Textiles from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and graduated from East Carolina University with a BFA in Textile Design. She resides in New Bedford.
