My making process manifests a kind of ritualistic behavior and involves the unconventional use of ordinary materials. My process becomes evident in my art object, especially in the form of site-specific installation. I reference home, or a specific physical location, by repurposing domestic objects or emphasizing a space’s architectural elements. One’s ‘ritual process’ includes daily routines and common habits – even those viewed as mundane. These familiar actions help one become comfortable within the world. Contrarily, the feeling of ‘everyday’ may lead to complacency. I aim to examine our ritualistic tendencies through use of both the familiar and the unexpected within object or atmosphere.
